Josef Bayer(IV)

Josef Bayer (1852 Vienna - 1913 Vienna) studied at the Vienna Conservatory, pupil of Anton Bruckner, Josef Hellmesberger d.Ä. He joined the Vienna Court Opera Orchestra in 1870, also becoming member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Bayer was ballet music conductor at the Vienna Court Opera from 1883 until 1913. He created numerous ballets (and some operettas), most famous and highly successful ballet "Die Puppenfee" (The Fairy Doll) in 1888.
