The combat-heavy trailer for the Silent Hill 2 remake didn’t “capture the spirit of the game,” says Bloober Team boss Piotr Babieno, implying that Konami was responsible.
Unveiled during Sony’s State Of Play online event in January, the latest trailer for Bloober Team’s remake of Silent Hill 2 didn’t exactly go down a storm with fans.
Although there were some complaints that the revival of Konami’s much-loved survival horror didn’t look great in the graphics department, the more common gripe was that its seeming focus on punching and shooting flew in the face of the original game’s creeping dread.
“Ah yes, the combat,” one comment read at the time. “That thing that everyone remembers and loves about Silent Hill 2.”
In a somewhat testy response to those criticisms, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno has said that Konami – the game’s publisher – was “entirely responsible for that trailer.

Bloober Team has announced that they’ve signed a licensing and publishing agreement with Skybound Entertainment to develop a new game based on one of Skybound’s intellectual properties. The game, code-named “R“, is expected to be released in 2025.
“This project is another step in our second-party strategy, where we work with external partners to provide our horror know-how,” stated Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno in a press release. “These are titles that are meant to not only give us financial profit, but are the next steps in achieving our strategy by the end of 2027. We have known our friends from Skybound for a long time and I am sure it will be a successful cooperation.”
For those curious, Skybound, which is owned by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, has plenty of IPs that Bloober Team can use. Aside from the obvious, like The Walking Dead and Invincible, Skybound...

It’s become a bit of a broken record for some fans waiting for Bloober Team to update fans on the Silent Hill 2 remake: Where is it? Bloober hasn’t given many more details on the remake’s progress for a quite a while, with the last real messages being clarifications on comments made by Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno. Coupled with the recent release date shenanigans, fans obviously want an update.
Bloober Team took to X last night with a bit of an update regarding Silent Hill 2, saying that the team is diligently working to “ensure the Silent Hill 2 remake attains the highest quality.” The update went on to say that production is “progressing smoothly” and in line with the developer’s schedule.
The post also thanked fans for their dedication to the game. At the same time, Bloober also asked for “a bit more patience...

Bloober Team is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, and what better way to celebrate than with free content and a song? Not only is Layers of Fear receiving more content in a couple of weeks, but Bloober Team has partnered up with Polish singer-songwriter Natalia Szroeder for a rather creepy take on a classic children’s song.
Bloober had teased last week on X that something was going on, to which they’ve now revealed via GameSpot the collaboration with Szroeder on a rendition of “You Are My Sunshine”, paying homage to the Layers of Fear series. The performance and video (directed by Bloober Team’s CEO Piotr Babieno) offer a fresh take on the classic song, but done in an appropriately dark and haunting manner.

It would appear that development on Bloober Team’s upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake isn’t quite as far as we were initially led to believe. After comments made last week by Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno saying that the remake was “technically ready”, Bloober Team has since clarified that as a mistranslation.
Bloober Team took to Twitter to explain the comments, saying that while the team doesn’t comment on rumours, they felt that this time, they needed to “to take the floor”. The team clarified that despite the comments, Silent Hill 2 is not yet ready for release. “Regardless of the development stage, all of our activities are focused on obtaining the highest quality for the finished product—the quality that fans of Silent Hill 2 deserve. We are aware that players are waiting for more information about Silent Hill 2. As soon as such information becomes available,...

Bloober Team has revealed that progress on their Silent Hill 2 remake is “technically ready”, according to Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno. Babieno revealed the status of the highly-anticipated return of the franchise in a recent translated interview with Polish website Bankier.
“Silent Hill 2 is technically ready. That doesn’t mean the game is over, but we’re close,” explained Babieno. “However, the issues of the publishing schedule lie with our partners, what the promotion will look like and when the title will debut, it does not lie directly in our hands.” This is the latest update on Silent Hill 2 since Bloober Team had revealed last October that the game was in an “advanced stage” of development.
Elsewhere in the interview, much like Babieno’s interview with IGN a few weeks back, the CEO talked of Bloober Team’s evolution as a company. “We are slowly moving away...

With the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake, Bloober Team is looking to compete with the industry heavyweights when it comes to horror and horror-adjacent games. Speaking recently with IGN at Dice Summit 2023, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno says that the developer wants to move beyond “walking simulator” games to titles with larger scopes and more complex and involved gameplay mechanics.
“We still would like to make meaningful games, we still would like to keep our DNA to tell [stories] about things which are important to us,” says Babieno. “However, not by environmental storytelling, but by full action, to have much more mass appeal. And I think that this is the reason why we have chosen Silent Hill.”
Babieno says Bloober Team is effectively shifting the way it looks at horror with Silent Hill 2. Referring to this evolution as “Bloober 3.0,” Babieno is taking a quiet approach to the developer’s move...

So, now that the Silent Hill 2 remake has finally been revealed and confirmed to be in development by Bloober Team, just when can we actually get our hands on it? While that obviously wasn’t part of the presentation by Konami, recent quotes by Bloober Team president Piotr Babieno suggest that it won’t be very long until we get an answer.
According to Polish news website gram.pl, during Wse Innovation Day, Babieno discussed the development for the upcoming remake, revealing that Silent Hill 2 had been in development since 2019, and that Konami was covering the development costs. Furthermore, development has reached an “advanced stage”, which would suggest that we would be getting an update on its release date in the near future.
As for that magical date, Babieno stated that decision lay in the hands of Konami. However, he also said that Konami would give an update soon.

If you thought DreadXP’s The Mortuary Assistant getting a film adaptation was a no-brainer, then you might as well put Bloober Team’s The Medium getting a television adaptation in the same category. Yep, Bloober Team is teaming up with Platige Image to develop a TV series based on the game.
Tomasz Bagiński and Bloober Team’s Piotr Babieno will be overseeing the show. Bagiński is also executive producer on another adaptation of a video game franchise in The Witcher, which will see Season 3 arrive next year on Netflix.
“Both the film industry and the video game industry are close to my heart, and I am very happy that there is finally an opportunity to bring them both together,” says Babieno. “The story we told in the game was appreciated by players, and now more people will be able to hear about it. Konami and developer Bloober Team have announced that they’ve entered into a partnership that many fans suspect will eventually result in Bloober Team developing a new Silent Hill game.
Granted, the press release doesn’t mention Silent Hill by name, but representatives from Konami and Bloober Team have strongly suggested that this agreement will eventually result in Bloober Team developing games related to notable Konami franchises. Piotr Babieno, president of Bloober Team, says that “Konami has decided to strategically cooperate with the Bloober Team,” and Konami president Hideki Hayakawa stated that he looks” forward to combining Bloober Team’s and our respective characteristics and strengths to create high-quality contents.” The press release also bizarrely includes the phrase “know-how,” but that’s a matter for another day.

Bloober Team (the studio behind such horror titles as The Blair Witch and Layers of Fear) has revealed the first trailer for an exciting upcoming horror game called The Medium.
“The Medium is a tension-fueled, psychological horror game built around a central motif: how your perspective changes your perception,” reads a description of the game from Bloober Team. “Players will find themselves in the body of Marianne, a medium hounded by visions, living and interacting across two worlds: the real, and the spirit world. Nothing is what it seems, everything has another side. As a medium with access to both worlds, you have a wider perspective and can see more clearly that there’s no one simple truth to what others perceive. “
Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team, goes on to say that The Medium is the studio’s “most ambitious game ever.” While that could certainly pertain to the game’s theme,...
