Biography

Legendary indie / emo band Braid hail from Champaign, Illinois originally active from 1993-1999. The most consistent lineup of the band featured members Bob Nanna, Chris Broach, Todd Bell and Damon Atkinson. Their 1998 album "Frame and Canvas" was critically acclaimed and is considered a defining moment for the emo genre. Relentless touring caused severe exhaustion for the band, who decided to disband in 1999, playing four sold out farewell shows, including two at Chicago's Metro. After their breakup in 1999, all the members except for Broach formed Hey Mercedes. The band's popularity grew in their absence, with many new fans never getting a chance to see the band during their initial run. As a result, the group reunited for a summer tour of the US and Japan in 2004 before pursuing other careers. The band reunited again in 2011 on a more permanent basis, touring occasionally and releasing 2014's "No Coast" to positive reviews.
