The HeyUGuys Interview: Heather Headley and Lloyd Owen Talk The Bodyguard Musical
It’s the show based on the movie that became the seventh highest grossing film of 1992 and made Whitney Houston’s version of I Will Always Love You an international hit. Now, The Bodyguard has been turned into a West End stage show.
Several years in production the show stars Tony and Grammy award-winning actress Heather Headley (The Lion King, Aida) in the role Whitney made famous, Rachel Marron and Lloyd Owen (Monarch of the Glen) stepping into Kevin Costner’s shoes as the bodyguard himself Frank Farmer. Written by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Empire Strikes Back) the stage version of the show brings the story up to date for a 2012 audience (references to Twitter included) and throws a few extra Whitney songs in for good measure.
