Award-winning hard-boiled Japanese cop action series "Mozu" is set to get a feature film adaptation. Series director Eiichiro Hasumi will direct and the show's main cast will reprise their small screen roles in the feature.
Based on the novel "Go Osaka," Hidetoshi Nishijima stars as a cop on the hunt for the mysterious bomber and contract killer who murdered his wife. The show has been a hit with viewers as the Japanese TV industry has shied away from action scenes for some time, whereas this one indulges in various high intensity ones.
The series boasts an unusual co-production arrangement which saw the Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) air the ten episode first season in the second quarter of this year, and both pay channel Wowow and TBS jointly airing the five-episode second season in the third and fourth quarters of this year.
The film itself is scheduled for a 2015 release.
