Canada is Requesting Citizens Stop "Spocking" Their $5 Bills
The Bank of Canada has officially requested that its citizens stop "Spocking" their $5 bills. Dangerous Minds writes that the bank has made an official statement after people first began drawing the Star Trek Vulcan after Leonard Nimoy's passing. The bank states that although it is not illegal to draw on the bills, they wish you wouldn't:

"...However, there are important reasons why it should not be done. Writing on a bank note may interfere with the security features and reduces its lifespan. Markings on a note may also prevent it from being accepted in a transaction. Furthermore, the Bank of Canada feels that writing and markings on bank notes are inappropriate as they are a symbol of our country and a source of national pride.”

We all know the best way to get people to stop doing something is to make a national headline telling them to stop, right?...
