Scott Derrickson set to direct ‘Labyrinth’ sequel

Doctor Strange’ helmer, Scott Derrickson, has been set to direct a sequel to Jim Henson’s ‘Labyrinth’.

Maggie Levin, who wrote and directed ‘Into the Dark’, and ‘My Valentine for Hulu’, will pen the script.

Lisa Henson of The Jim Henson Company is producing. Brian Henson is executive producing. Derrickson is executive producing with his frequent collaborator C. Robert Cargill.

David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly starred in the 1986 original film revolves around 16-year-old Sarah’s (Connelly) quest to reach the centre of an enormous otherworldly maze to rescue her infant brother Toby, whom Sarah wished away to Jareth the Goblin King (Bowie). Most of the film’s significant characters, apart from Bowie and Connelly, are played by puppets produced by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.
