Dancing With The Stars pro Cheryl Burke recently opened up about her toxic relationship with her high school boyfriend. Cheryl, who recently finalized her divorce from ex-husband Matthew Lawrence, has been a professional dancer on DWTS since season 2. She has won two mirror balls and was partnered with Sam Champion on season 31 before the pair was eliminated in week 4 during Disney+ Night.

“Not to get too graphic, but in high school—I'll never forget, the person I was with whipped me with a belt,” The DWTS pro revealed to hosts Jada Pinkett Smith and Adrienne Banfield-Norris in a recent episode of Red Table Talk that discussed trauma bonding with a professional psychologist. She went on to add that the belt whips left her with bruises all over her legs. The choreographer, in an attempt to be very detailed and specific, claimed that her high school boyfriend was not exactly hitting her but whipping her.
