After 13 years, James Cameron has finally unveiled his long-awaited Avatar sequel. While audiences are excited to revisit the immersive world of Pandora, Avatar: The Way of Water has been criticized for its taxing 192-minute runtime. Cameron is notorious for his lengthy runtimes; The Way of Water isn’t even his longest movie.

Whether The Way of Water’s three-hour runtime will hurt its prospects at the box office remains to be seen. But extensive Cameron movies like Titanic and Terminator 2 and, indeed, the first Avatar movie have proven that audiences will sit through his cinematic spectacles for any length of time.
