Already greenlit and in production, Star Trek: Prodigy will return to Paramount+ for season 2, possibly in late 2023.
Star Trek: Prodigy season 1 ended with Dal R'El (Brett Gray), Gwyn (Ella Purnell), and their teenage friends sacrificing their starship, the USS Protostar, to save Starfleet and the galaxy. To ensure their success, Hologram Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) gives up her life and passes the torch as the kids' mentor to her flesh-and-blood counterpart, Vice Admiral Janeway. The question of whether the Protostar's young heroes will be accepted by Starfleet is also given a satisfying and logical answer.
