Raising the Vanguard level in Destiny 2 can be quite time-consuming, but there are ways of optimizing the grind and rising through the Vanguard Ranks faster. The Vanguard and its main Vendor, Zavala, have been around since the first game in the franchise, and while the ways that it works and grants rewards have significantly changed, players still engage in a few related activities to the Last City’s protectors.

Of course, the Vanguard is only one of the three main Tower-related activities, as the Crucible and Gambit are also featured equally. Shaxx and the Drifter are, respectively, Crucible and Gambit counterparts to Zavala’s Vanguard and operate in the same manner but focused on other activities. To raise the level and get Vanguard rewards in Destiny 2, players must complete Vanguard Ops.
