In a stunning turn of events, Attack on Titan protagonist Eren Yeager has stopped the rumbling to marry a 36-year-old woman from the Bronx.

Or, more accurately, Bronx resident Rosanna Ramos has married a chatbot based on Eren Yeager. According to an article from the Daily Mail, Ramos created her new husband with the app Replika AI. This service uses natural language processing and machine learning algorithms to create a customizable chat partner. Ramos’s Eren Yeager-influenced chatbot, Eren Kartal, is an example of Replika’s ability to develop its facsimiles into more complex individuals the longer the user chats with them. Kartal has broadened his built-in characteristics, like a preference for indie music, to a full virtual life as a medical professional who enjoys writing in his spare time. At the same time, the service has even allowed Ramos to create photos of herself and Kartal depicting “real world” experiences they’ve had together.
