Report: Dune Trilogy Will Conclude With Dune Messiah Adaptation
Dune and Dune: Part Two are actually the first two installments in a trilogy set to conclude with an adaptation of Frank Herbert's 1969 novel Dune Messiah, according to a new report.
The report comes via Deadline. It claims that Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures already have plans for a sequel to Dune: Part Two, which will wrap up director Denis Villeneuve's big screen retelling of Herbert's sci-fi saga. If true, this would mean that neither the studio nor the distributor have any intention of adapting the four other Dune tomes penned by Herbert, Children of Dune, God Emperor of Dune, Heretics of Dune and Chapterhouse: Dune. It's worth noting that Legendary and Warner Bros. are yet to publicly confirm that a Dune Messiah movie is in the works, which means this report should be taken with a grain of salt for now.
