The MCU Skipped the Darkest Part of Captain America & Black Widow's Friendship

Captain America and Black Widow have a closer relationship in the MCU than in the comics, but the films skip the darkest part of their friendship. In the comics, Captain America saved Black Widow as a child from becoming a trained assassin, but it turns out she was actually there to carry out an assassination herself. Captain America's act of saving Natasha didn't make much of a difference, as she still became a child assassin, representing his ultimate failure in the comics. The MCU didn't explore this aspect of their relationship.
