There’s yet another twist in the long-running Intellivision Amico saga, as the company says it still needs more money before it can begin manufacturing the long-in-gestation console.

To get you up to speed, the saga began back in 2018, when videogame music composer Tommy Tallarico announced plans to relaunch the 1980s Intellivision console after buying the rights to the company the year previously. The newly redesigned console would be called the Intellivision Amico, and would feature wireless, touchscreen controllers, with a firm focus on family-friendly games.

The initial release date was set for October 2020, with the console priced at $249 for the black and white versions, and $279 for a woodgrain effect version.
