Controversy arose after the family and foundation of late singer Riley Gale issued a statement criticizing the recent surprise Power Trip reunion set featuring the remaining band members. Now Gale’s family and the foundation have issued a new statement clarifying their previous comments.
Gale’s father Brandon wrote the original statement, which laid out a list of grievances against the December 1st performance at the Mohawk in Austin — a show that featured a surprise set of five Power Trip songs by the surviving band members and Scourge/Fugitive vocalist Seth Gilmore. In the original statement, Brandon Gale wrote that neither the foundation or Gale’s family were approached about the reunion or invited to the Mohawk show.
