Attack on Titan & Vinland Saga Anime Creator Explains The Real Reason For Switch in Studios

Wit Studio, known for their stunning visuals and animation, had to drop Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga due to circumstances beyond their control. The CEO of Wit Studio, George Wada, explained that the decision to drop the series was based on sales data, which was not available until later on, causing scheduling conflicts. Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga were picked up by Mappa, a larger studio with more resources, and the decision to drop Attack on Titan may have been influenced by Wit Studio's small size at the time.
As one of the best studios in the anime industry, Wit Studio is responsible for some of the most iconic series ever, despite its recent founding in 2012. Two of their biggest anime are Vinland Saga season 1 and Attack On Titan season 1-3, and it came as a genuine shock when the studio announced that they would no longer work on the two series.
