Nikki from Hoboken, New Jersey went to Chişinău, Moldova in 2006 to meet her then boyfriend who she realized was cheating on her. Nikki was 30 at the time and met the 20-year-old Justin on a friendship website but didn’t tell Justin she was transgender. Justin proposed to Nikki two years later, and Justin came to the U.S. on a K-1 visa. Within two weeks of his arrival, the couple started having fights.
During one such argument, Nikki accidentally told Justin she used to be a man. Justin was traumatized.
