Classic Beat 'Em Up Golden Axe Gets 10-Episode Animated Series at Comedy Central

Sega-style swords 'n sandals are on the way to the TV screen in a new format with the reveal of an animated series based on classic arcade beat 'em up Golden Axe . According to a Variety report , Comedy Central has ordered 10 episodes with Star Trek: Lower Decks creator Mike McMahan and American Dad executive producer Joe Chandler listed as co-creators. The pair will also co-write the first episode and executive produce the series, which is being animated at Titmouse. This comes hot on the heels of the announcement that McMahan's Star Trek: Lower Decks series will be ending with season five. Some of the main cast and characters have been announced, as well. Matthew Rhys ( The Americans ) voices cantankerous battle dwarf Gilius Thunderhead, Danny Pudi ( Community ) voices novice adventurer Hampton Squib, Lisa Gilroy ( Jury Duty ) voices battle sorceress Tyris Flare, Liam McIntyre ( The Flash ) voices brawny battle warrior Ax Battler...
