The movie, inspired by the story of the 1936 movie Dracula's Daughter, has already grossed $15 million globally against a production budget of $28 million. Directed by Scream 6 duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and starring Barrera, the story follows a group of criminals who kidnap the daughter of an underworld kingpin, unaware she is a vampire until she breaks free and starts killing them off.
In an interview with IndieWire, Barrera claimed that Abigail could get a follow-up, assuming the movie is a financial success.
