Directed by Spike Lee, with whom Washington has now collaborated five times, High and Low serves as a remake of a 1963 Akira Kurosawa thriller of the same name. The original movie tells the story of a shoe company executive who contends with an attempt at extortion after his chauffeur's son is kidnapped and held for ransom. Lee's remake started filming earlier this year, with Washington in the lead role.
