‘Arcane’ Season 1 to Get 4K Home Entertainment Release After Gkids Scoops Global Video, Transactional Rights to the Hit Series

Leading indie distributor Gkids has picked up the global videogram and digital transactional rights (excluding China) to season one of Riot Games and Fortiche Productions’ “Arcane,” the Emmy-winning animated series based on the “League of Legends” video game universe.
Originally released on Netflix, “Arcane” has been one of the streamer’s biggest animation successes, scoring four Emmys and nine Annies. On IMDb, it is the 27th highest-rated TV series of all time, animation or live-action.
According to Gkids, the company and its international partners will release a full product array later this year, ranging from digital to premium editions, including a 4K version that will only be available as a home entertainment release.
Gkids founder and CEO Eric Beckman said of the acquisition: “We are monster fans of the series, and our team is having a blast collaborating with the creatives at Riot and Fortiche to put together an amazing package for the fans.
