Shaq 'Auditions' for Axel Foley Role in Beverly Hills Cop 4 Promo
NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal takes his shot at landing the role of Axel Foley in a new video released by Netflix. The promo is advertising the upcoming release of the sequel, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, which will be the fourth installment of the action-comedy movie series.
In the new promo, Shaq sports Axel's familiar Detroit Lions jacket for what's labeled as a "screen test" for the Steel star. The basketballer jokes at the start that he's "come a long way since Kazaam," the 1996 box office bomb that featured Shaq in the role of a genie. Shaq then delivers some lines, but struggles to use the correct name of the character, instead referring to himself as "Shaqxel Foley." When he learns that he's not getting the role, Shaq insists on keeping the prop badge, and he walks off while humming the iconic Beverly Hills Cop theme song.
