DirecTV eliminating episode cap on unlimited cloud DVR feature

DirecTV will eliminate a restriction on its unlimited cloud DVR feature that capped the number of TV episodes a person could save, The Desk has learned.

When DirecTV first offered the unlimited cloud DVR perk to subscribers of DirecTV Stream and DirecTV via Internet two years ago, The Desk noted the feature wasn’t truly “unlimited,” because streamers could only save the most-recent 30 episodes of a TV series.

Now, that’s going away, a DirecTV spokesperson confirmed by e-mail. Starting Monday, June 17, DirecTV will begin updating its unlimited cloud DVR feature to remove the 30-episode cap, which will finally deliver a cloud DVR feature that is truly unlimited.
