Despicable Me 4 registers 63% on the Tomatometer rating against 24 reviews, at the time of this writing. The original Despicable Me (2010) still holds the franchises best Rotten Tomatoes score at 80%. However, the two entries in the film series with the lowest Rt ratings have made the most money at the box office. Despicable Me 4 opens on Wednesday, July 3, and is eyeing a $100+ million five-day Fourth of July weekend take.

Former super-villain Felonious Gru (Steve Carell) is a family guy dealing with a bouncing baby boy, who doesnt quite jibe with his old man in the upcoming sequel, Despicable Me 4. Unfortunately, the animated adventure isnt quite working for critics either, judging from its average Rotten Tomatoes score of 63%. However, the titular character is once more portrayed by Carell.

This is adult Grus first cinematic adventure since 2017s Despicable Me 3. Carell did voice young Gru two years ago in Minions: The Rise of Gru.
