Science fiction is often combined with numerous other genres. It's remarkably versatile, as the things that typically make sci-fi movies great translate well to other types of movies as well. Science fiction westerns such as The Mandalorian and Outer Range have become increasingly more prevalent in recent years, as have combinations with comedy like A Million Ways to Die in the West.

However, one of the strongest marriages, when done correctly, is that between science-fiction and romance. Taking the thing that makes us the most human and blending it with things that push humanity to the brink of becoming inhuman often provides powerful narratives that would have otherwise been impossible to achieve.
