Former head writer for Rick & Morty Mike McMahan jumped through the multiverse to the galaxy created six decades ago by Gene Roddenberry. Star Trek: Lower Decks is unlike any series in this universe, as it's ostensibly a workplace comedy on a starship. The show shocked viewers and pushed boundaries, but fans eventually realized these characters fit perfectly in Roddenberry's framework. Each season of Lower Decks can be ranked among the best of Star Trek, which is impressive for an animated comedy. How they rank against one another is simply a matter of individual taste.

Over four seasons of television, the crew of the USS Cerritos showed they all have what it takes to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Starfleet's best. As with any series in this universe, some seasons are more well-received than others. While the events of this series are considered canon, the reality for the Lower Decks crew is heightened and exaggerated.
