Steven Spielberg had only one actor in mind to play the role of Harrison Ford’s dad role, an eccentric medieval literature professor, in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Spielberg was a fan of Sean Connery’s work in James Bond films. Connery initially turned down the role as he didn’t want to play any more franchise roles after Bond. However, he went on to have a lot of fun in the role.
