Wim Wenders to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award From European Film Academy

German auteur Wim Wenders is set to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 37th European Film Awards.
The director, widely known as a shepherd of the New German Cinema movement, has received prizes at the Cannes, Venice and Berlin film festivals over the years, as well as a BAFTA Award and three Oscar nominations. His acclaimed films include the Road Movie trilogy, consisting of “Alice in the Cities” (1974), “The Wrong Move” (1975) and “Kings of the Road” (1976); “Paris, Texas” (1984), which earned him a BAFTA Award for best director and the Palme d’Or at Cannes; “Wings of Desire” (1987), for which he won the Cannes best director award; and his most recent film, “Perfect Days,” which was nominated for the best international film Oscar.
He served as the president of the European Film Academy from 1996 to 2020, and earned the Golden Bear for lifetime achievement at Berlin Film Festival in 2015.
