As far as police procedural dramas are concerned, you need not look further than the Law & Order franchise, one of the longest-running franchises of all time. Law & Order started off in the 90s with the series of the same name and has since produced numerous spin-offs, some of which have been more successful, others less.

Among these spin-offs, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is – by far – the most successful one, as the series is now heading into its 26th season, which is absolutely amazing in a market where series rarely survive 4-5 seasons and that is if they are really, really good (and with far fewer episodes than Svu).
