It’s no secret that Queen Elizabeth loved animals. She was known for her adoration of her beloved Corgis, and she also had great affection for her horses.
Terry Pendry Cared For the Queen’s Horses
For the first time, her former stud groom, Terry Pendry, has revealed the details of her final pony ride. Pendry took care of the Queen’s horses for more than 28 years and looked after around 100 of her horses at one point in time.
In a touching account, he said that the Queen was so tiny and frail that he needed to help her off the mount, even though she insisted that she climb up on the saddle herself.
Instead of riding by her side as he typically did, her Majesty wanted him to walk beside her in case she fell. She joked that she hadn’t had someone walk beside her like that since she was a Princess.
