Yuki Tabata Shot Down an Absurd ‘Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King’ Story Pitch as It “Would make Asta’s battles much more difficult”

Among the new generation of shonen anime and manga series, Black Clover has been the most successful in retaining the key traits of the shonen legacy. Besides keeping the shonen essence intact, Yuki Tabata took it a step further by improving some aspects of the overall experience. For instance, great female characters and consistent developmental arcs for the side characters.

The creator’s ability to properly develop the characters is exceptional, which was also apparent in the film, Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard Kings. In an interview, Tabata shared his creative process behind the movie. He also spoke about the different possibilities, some of which would have proved to be problematic for Asta.
