The history of Thor Odinson predates the MCU or even the invention of comic book storytelling. Chris Hemsworth’s Asgardian Avenger is a fictional derivative of the figure from Norse mythology who has existed for thousands of years before Stan Lee and Jack Kirby willed him into existence. However, Thor’s second career path as a comic book superhero proved way more successful than his prospects as a Germanic god. Or so it seemed until the arrival of the Scarlet Witch.
