
Gavin Creel, Tony Award-Winning Theater Actor, Dies at 48 & Cause of Death Confirmed

Gavin Creel has sadly died.
The Tony Award-winning actor has sadly passed away at the age of 48, the New York Times confirms.
He died at home on Monday (September 30) in Manhattan, as confirmed by his partner, Alex Temple Ward, via publicist Matt Polk.
Gavin performed on Broadway for two decades, and won a Tony for Hello, Dolly!, as well as an Olivier Award for The Book of Mormon. He also wrote and performed a show Off Broadway, called Walk on Through: Confessions of a Museum Novice, about the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The cause was metastatic melanotic peripheral nerve sheath sarcoma, which Gavin learned he had in July. After he was diagnosed with the rare form of cancer, he underwent treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering, via Broadway World.
He first debuted on Broadway in 2002 in Thoroughly Modern Millie, for which he received his first Tony nomination.
