After 18 Years, Riker Became Captain Of 3 Star Trek Ships

Since his time on Star Trek: The Next Generation, William Riker (Jonathan Frakes) has served as the captain of three Star Trek ships on screen. Throughout Tng and the subsequent films, Commander Riker served as First Officer on the USS Enterprise-d and Enterprise-e under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart). He earned a reputation as one of the best first officers in Starfleet and turned down numerous offers for his own command to remain on the Enterprise. Although Riker never officially served as captain of the Enterprise, he did take over command several times on Tng.

Most notably, Commander Riker took command of the Enterprise in Star Trek: The Next Generation's classic two-part episode, "The Best of Both Worlds," when Captain Picard was assimilated by the Borg.
