Science fiction, drama, and psychological thriller are often genres that attract a wide range of audiences due to their mind-bending nature. However, Apple TV+’s television series, Severance, takes these elements to a whole new level. Created by Dan Erickson and directed by our favorite ‘museum night guard’ Ben Stiller, the psychological thriller stands out for its intense exploration of identity, free will, and the corporate world.

The story follows Mark Scout (portrayed by Adam Scott), an employee of Lumon Industries who undergoes a procedure called ‘severance.’ This complicated procedure divides the work and non-work memories of the employees, essentially creating two distinct selves: one who is referred to as ‘innie’ and only knows office life and the other called ‘outie.’ who apparently lives the rest of their life being oblivious to their day job.
