Exclusive: Idris Elba is set to join Masters of the Universe, the Travis Knight-directed film for Amazon MGM. Sources said that Elba will play the role of Duncan, Man-At-Arms. The film is a coproduction between Escape Artists and Mattel.

Pic stars Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, and Camila Mendes as Teela. Scripted by Chris Butler, the film is produced by Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Robbie Brenner and Steve Tisch.

Elba is repped by The Artists Partnership and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole. He’s filming Kathryn Bigelow’s untitled White House thriller for Netflix, and provides the voice of Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
