Why James Van Der Beek Won’t Let His Children Watch ‘Dawson’s Creek’
James Van Der Beek doesn’t have any plans for his children to see his breakout role in Dawson’s Creek.
The actor, who rose to fame after playing Dawson Leery in the teen drama, which ran from 1998 to 2003, recently admitted on The View that he doesn’t let his six kids watch the hit series.
“It’s a great show, I love the show, I think other kids can watch it,” he said. “I don’t think my kids need to watch their dad pretend to go through puberty. That’s my stance on it.”
Van Der Beek added of the show’s success, “It was a very well-intentioned show, people really trying to do the right thing and speaking incredibly eloquently about how they were trying to do the right thing. I think that seed of good intentions comes through.”
