Disney Reportedly Wants Johnny Depp to Reprise Pirates of the Caribbean Role
Johnny Depp was dropped from the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise after his ex-wife, Amber Heard, accused him of domestic abuse in 2022. Now that the actor has been cleared of any wrong doing, Disney reportedly wants him back.
According to Variety, the Walt Disney Company's live-action division, led by David Greenbaum, wants to add another film to the franchise, which is valued at $4.53 billion. A source familiar with the situation says that although the studio has not reached out to Depp about reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, "nothing has been ruled out." Producer Jerry Bruckheimer is currently working on two scripts. One of them allows Depp back into the fold if he is able to reconcile with Disney.
