Fred Durst's Role In Y2K Explained

The following contains spoilers for Y2K, now playing in theatersY2K's version of Fred Durst is more important to the film than audiences may have initially expected. Y2K is a confidently absurd film, embracing the culture of the year 1999 and playing it for laughs amid a surprisingly dark take on the "robot uprising" sci-fi trope. Y2K's main characters find themselves contending with a number of murderous machines after the Y2K bug unites the machines through a digital hive mind that wants to usurp humans as the dominant species on Earth.

One of the consistent musicians poked fun at in the film is to Fred Durst and his band Limp Bizkit, who were popular at the turn of the century.
