Shark Tank features business founders and inventors pitching ideas and companies to a room of experienced investors. Once the business owner walks away with either no investment or a life-changing deal, the audience presumes that they know what happens.

In a Forbes report, the outlet discovered that a large number of business owners don't get the deals viewers see the Sharks make on television. Of the 319 business deals made in the first seven seasons of Shark Tank, 73% did not get the deal portrayed on the reality show. There are a few reasons why the deals fall through offscreen. Sometimes the Sharks don't like the small print, sometimes the investor and owner can't agree, or sometimes the shark decides to change their offer.
