Before the reboot of the Modern Warfare franchise, Vladimir Makarov was well-known for his ruthless tactics as a primary antagonist of the franchise. The man single-handedly started World War 3 all because he wanted to take revenge on the Western world.

By the end of 2011’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Makarov was killed by Captain Price. With the end of the Modern Warfare series, the Makarov everyone knew was also gone. When the series was rebooted, Makarov was once again introduced in 2023’s Modern Warfare III, however, the character was severely nerfed. Fans believe that the character was only brought back to attract veteran players, but it turned out to be a massive disappointment.
