Prior to her death in January 2023, Lisa Marie Presley was working on a memoir. Following her death, her daughter Riley Keough found it prudent to complete the memoir and publish it.

To do so, she listened to a series of voice tapes left behind by her mother, and something she said in one of them encouraged her to leave an anecdote that quickly made headlines immediately the book hit the shelves.
