The film included a number of well-known and lesser-known actors from an international pool. Among these was Miranda Otto, who played Éowyn of Rohan. As niece to Théoden (King of Rohan) and sister of Éomer (Marshal of the Mark), Éowyn held an important position of status in the kingdom of Horse-lords.
