Her parents, though, were driven by a different kind of American dream. In Russia, being Jewish meant facing a lot of hardships, and Mila’s parents wanted a fresh start. Her dad, an engineer back home, and her mom, a physics teacher, swapped their stable careers for a shot at a new life in LA. Her dad still drives a cab, her mom runs a pharmacy—and both still work their butts off.
