The official website for Gekijouban Nintama Rantaro Dokutake Ninja-tai Saikyou no Gunshi (translated to “Nintama Rantaro the Movie: The Strongest Strategist of the Dokutake Ninja Squad”) announced today that the film's cumulative total domestic gross has surpassed a milestone of one billion yen (6.33 million Usd) as of January 8, 2025. And it has now become the highest-grossing film in the Nintama Rantaro anime franchise, which launched in 1993. Nintama Rantaro is based on Sobe Amako's slapstick comedy manga series Rakudai Ninja Rantaro . Its story involves ninja trainees who enter a ninjutsu academy with the aim of becoming first-class ninja. The original manga ran in the Asahi Shogakusei Shimbun for 33 years from April 1986 to October 2019. The manga's TV anime adaptation began airing in 1993, and its latest 32nd season is now airing on Nhk E-television every Monday through Friday.
