Den of Thieves 2 Tops Weekend Box Office as Robbie Williams Biopic Better Man Flops Hard

The Gerard Butler-led sequel to 2018’s Den of Thieves, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera has secured the No. 1 spot at the box office this weekend, taking in $15.5 million from 3,008 theaters in North America. Per Variety, the film is doing better than expected, even making a bit more its opening weekend than the first installment, which earned $15.2 million when it first launched. The sequel reportedly had a budget of about $40 million.
The movie stars Butler as Big Nick, a Los Angeles police officer who is trying to track down an ex-marine/robber named Donnie (O’Shea Jackson Jr.) who is trying to pull off a major diamond heist in Europe. Den of Thieves 2 director Christian Gudegast said the film is basically a “buddy movie.”
