How Landman Season 1’s Ending Sets Up Tommy’s Biggest Challenge In Season 2 Explained By Billy Bob Thornton
Image
Warning: Spoilers ahead for Landman season 1, episode 10!Billy Bob Thornton has explained how Landman season 1's ending sets up Tommy's biggest challenge in season 2, as his life goes through a major change. At the start of the season finale, Tommy is faced with the revelation that Monty (Jon Hamm) has named him President while he remains incapacitated due to complications following his heart attack. Unfortunately, Landman season 1 ended with Monty's death, making Tommy the new President of his oil company heading into season 2. This is despite his own responsibilities and lack of experience in a role with such big shoes to fill.

Speaking with Variety, Thornton explained how Tommy's biggest challenge in Landman season 2 will be his new role as President of the oil company. The actor said his character is less inclined toward being "some type of executive person," as he's used to his hands-on role as a landman.
