Silo Season 2: Is Lukas Kyle Already Turning On The Mayor?
Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Silo season 2, episode 9.
The dynamic between Silo's Mayor Bernard Holland (Tim Robbins) and Lukas Kyle (Avi Nash) undergoes an important shift in season 2, episode 9, "The Safeguard." During Silo season 1's ending, Lukas is sent to the mines by Bernard. His fortune changes significantly in season 2 when Bernard makes Lukas his It Shadow. Instead of toiling in the mines, Lukas instead gets to live comfortably while having access to information that no one else in Silo 18 but Bernard possesses.
Bernard does not do this out of the goodness of his heart but because he wants Lukas to decode a letter from Salvador Quinn. Quinn led the It Department 140 years earlier during the last rebellion and Bernard believes that Quinn was responsible for quelling that rebellion.
