When discussing mob drama The Alto Knights, formerly known as Wiseguys, it is impossible not to think about Martin Scorsese’s seminal gangster film Goodfellas, in which Robert De Niro played the smooth talking Jimmy Conway opposite Ray Liotta and Joe Pesci. The Alto Knights reunites De Niro and screenwriter Nicholas Pileggi for a story that sees De Niro play the dual roles of quarrelling mob bosses.
It’s safe to say we’re rather excited to see this.
The Alto Knights has been a long time coming. The film was stuck in development hell for a number of decades before Warner Bros revived the project in the summer of 2022.
